WEITE Online Weighing System Escorts Sany Gantry Cranes for Export to Malaysia

For Sany Marine Heavy Industry, manufacturing and delivering four-link gantry cranes for export is more than a simple equipment supply. Especially after the project is deployed at a port in Malaysia, the site faces harsh working conditions featuring high humidity, salt spray and dust. What the client cares most about is not whether the equipment can operate normally, but whether the operation is safe, the data is accurate and the management is convenient.

In the past, weighing operations on conventional gantry cranes mostly relied on operators’ experience and simple limit devices. Overload risks could not be warned in a timely manner, and operational data could only be recorded manually on paper after the fact. Key operational indicators including throughput, grab bucket efficiency and cycle time were unavailable in real time. This not only impaired port scheduling efficiency but also created hidden dangers for safety management. Sany required an online weighing system capable of long-term stable operation under harsh environments with remote data monitoring functions. This is the core starting point for WEITE Technologies Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "WEITE") to develop this solution.

WEITE provided 4 sets of SMQG354501(02) online weighing systems for Sany’s Malaysia four-link gantry crane project. Mounted on quay-front gantry cranes, the system covers both 35-tonne grab bucket and hook working conditions. It directly solves the customer’s three key pain points:

Overload No Longer Relies on Empirical Judgment

A tiered warning mechanism is configured: light prompt at 95% load, intermittent alarm at 100% load, and automatic motion cut-off with continuous alarm at 110% load. Operators can clearly view real-time load data at the operating station to avoid blind operation.

No Post-operation Manual Data Entry Required

The system automatically records full-process operational data including operator ID, vessel information, cargo type and cycle time. Data can be stored for a minimum of 12 months. The operation management office can access real-time data remotely and export records to Excel files with one click for performance analysis and scheduling decision-making.

Stable Operation Under Harsh Environments

Sensors and instruments are designed to port-grade protection standards, featuring salt spray resistance, vibration resistance and wide temperature adaptability. The measurement accuracy can remain within 5% for three years, greatly reducing subsequent maintenance costs.

This project is a benchmark for the export of China’s high-end crane safety monitoring systems. It proves Chinese suppliers are capable of complying with IEC, EN and other international standards, and delivering fully customized plug-and-play solutions for real-world overseas port operations. The integrated "weighing + moment protection + remote data platform" solution has become a reference template for new gantry crane builds and legacy equipment retrofits across the port machinery sector.

WEITE International Department spearheaded this project. The system will connect to the customer’s current TOS platform as requested. The team will keep delivering after-sales and technical support, helping integrate weighing data into daily port operations. By exporting products together with professional services, WEITE supports overseas clients throughout project deployment and subsequent operation.
